Voilier de rêve / Sailboat Dreaming

I love Vincent van Gogh's nocturnes, especially Starry Night Over the Rhône and The Starry Night. In this mixed media work I hoped to recreate that wonderful feeling I get when I look at these paintings. I saw Starry Night over the Rhône in person and it was so amazing! I had recently done oil pastel resists in an art workshop I was taking and I thought this would work well here. Liquid watercolours in layers worked nicely to stain the oil pastel outlines of the sailboat. Ink gives it that lovely intensity. This is available on many products in my Redbubble Katimages shop.
